The Modern Barre is set to upbeat music and takes you through a series of isometric exercises designed to develop long lean muscles, while enhancing flexibility and improving balance. A full body workout targeting the upper body, followed by legs, glutes (tones & lifts) and abs. Stretching is added between each segment, which lengthens muscles, aids in toning, flexibility, and injury prevention. Open to practitioners of all levels. For the safety of our members, and to maintain a sanitary environment, grip socks are mandatory (for all classes except Hot Flow Yoga). Class time is 60 minutes.
Bring the following: Yoga mat, hand towel, water, and grip socks (available at The Modern). Water, beverages, and mat/towel/grip sock rentals are offered.
For optimal performance and to enhance your practice, we recommend you avoid eating for 1 1/2 to 2 hours prior to class while hydrating with plenty of water. It's important to continue hydrating throughout the day after class.
Attending class: It is recommended you pre-register using our app or website to assist the check-in process. Members can access your account for the first time by clicking here to set your password (do not create a new account). Enter the email provided to us and a link will be emailed to create a password. First time visitors click here to register online to speed the initial check-in process and to access your account in the future.
Arrive at least 10-15 minutes before class so you have ample time to check-in and get settled or 20 minutes prior if you're new. Wear lightweight and comfortable clothing that's breathable and preferably moisture wicking. More fitted is best since loose or flowy clothing may get in the way of your practice. Please observe good hygiene before, during and after class. The scent of perfume, cologne and lotion is often magnified in the studios, so try to avoid anything other than the bare minimum if you must apply it.
